The History
The foundation of Alvor dates back to the 7th century BC. To the Phoenicians, who made it a major economic center and port of refuge due to its geographical position in the year of
436 BC, the Carthaginians succeeded, and it was later occupied by the Romans and in 716 AD by the Moors, whom it was conquered by D. Sancho I
in 1189. According to records, it was during the establishment of the Phoenicians that a first fort was built on the site. Later, during the occupation of the Moors and in the face of a context of great instability in the territory, a fortress was built, the
current Alvor Castle.
From History to Project and its Integration
"Embraced" to the Castle, respecting its history and integrating into it, stands our most recent OASIS Development - the "Oasis Castelo de Alvor - Private Condominium". Designed to perpetuate the history of this picturesque and charismatic fishing village, with unique architecture in style and presence, ahead of its time but with an eye on the past, we developed a project in full harmony with the houses, with the "labyrinthine" and narrow streets of Alvor, greeting its people and saying good morning to the Ria and the Sea right next door.
The location
Due to its location in the center, at the highest point of the village and close to the beaches, the development enjoys 360º views. Because it is located in the small area of
Classified Heritage, a tight archaeological study of the land was imposed, with the respective discoveries deposited in the Museum of Portimão and out of respect for the Castle wall, we restored it.
